Since our series began, we’ve shared some really innovative and easy to do activity ideas that you can try at home with your kids.
The following projects have been chosen as four of our favorite activities to do with the children you care for:
- Art with Salt and Ice
This art project allows children to create their own colorful ice sculpture by using rock salt and food coloring on a solid block of ice. The entire activity is like a mini-science lesson because it teaches kids the physical reaction of salt on ice.
- Quiet Art
Quiet art is a great activity for making transitions run smoothly. It’s an art project you do in a non-traditional setting and a good transitional activity because it calms the children down and brings them a sense of peace. When you do “quiet art,” you do it resting on the floor with mellow music playing softly in the background.
- Banana Shake
With this lesson in disguise, kids will think they’re making a tasty treat. What they don’t know is that their Banana Shake comes with a healthy helping of math, language and organizational skills.
- Sound Garden
In a Sound Garden a child is allowed to explore sounds by clanging and banging different objects. Children love to make noise, so be prepared for the amount of clatter they’ll make with this activity.
