IEP - Individualized Education Program, a written statement required by law that describes components of special educaIndividualized Education Program, a written statement required by law that describes components of special education and related services for children 3-21. It is based on assessment results and developed by a team which includes the child's family.
IFSP - Individualized Family Service Plan, a written statement required by law for children younger than 3 years of age who have or are at risk of having disabilities. The IFSP describes children's skills and goals for services as well as strategies for achieving those goals. It is developed by a team, based on assessment, and emphasizes family services as an integral part of early intervention.
Income eligible - Meeting state income requirements to receive a subsidy for child care.
Individualized program - A program in which the environment and the provider's interactions with children are suited to each child's interests, strengths, and needs
Industry - Productivity; the stage when children develop and use their skills to accomplish tasks in school and in life
Infancy - The first year of life, or the stage of life before a baby begins to walk, at which time she/he becomes a toddler (definitions vary)
Infection - Invasion of the body by organisms that cause disease
Initiative - Self-motivation; the stage when preschool children display high energy and newly acquired skills to explore their world actively
