Elizabeth Sanchez
Elizabeth Sanchez joined A Place of Our Own in its fourth season in 2008.

As a seasoned broadcast journalist and mother of two young daughters, Sanchez brings the perfect combination of professional and personal experience to her new assignment as host of A Place of Our Own airing on PBS stations nationally.

Sanchez has an extensive career in local and national broadcast journalism. She most recently served as weekend anchor and general assignment reporter for KGTV Channel 10 (ABC) in San Diego. Prior to working at KGTV, Elizabeth was a national correspondent for CBS News based in Dallas. In that position, she traveled extensively, covering everything from the space shuttle Columbia tragedy to high profile trials, wildfires, hurricanes, the White House and Grammy Awards.

Sanchez has received several Associated Press awards, including Best of the West Environmental story in 2001, Best Serious Feature in 1993 and Best newscast in 1992. She also received a Golden Mike Award for Best Newscast during a morning broadcast in 1991. She graduated from California State University Long Beach with a bachelor's degree in broadcast journalism. She is also a member of the National Association of Hispanic Journalists.

Joining A Place of Our Own is something of a homecoming for Elizabeth. She is a native Californian, growing up in the Los Angeles suburbs. She is a first generation American on her father's side. Her father is from Bogota, Colombia and her mother is Mexican-American. She lives in San Diego with her husband and two young daughters Julia and Jenna.
